Moonbow Art

Amy Prior and Carly Schwerdt’s handprinted artworks draw upon extensive time spent in solitude enveloped in local Australian landscapes. Their work is an invitation, through its personal and intuitive sensitivity, to develop a peaceful engagement with the sensory world. Exquisite layers of shape and colour resonate with a sense of calm presence and beauty that seeks new responses to nature. In 2017 textile designers Prior & Schwerdt left their studio and a career spanning more than twelve years in search of balance and depth in an arts practice devoted to works exploring earth based spirituality and connection. Their artwork is inspired by the shifts in seasons, the subtle and exquisite colours, dust and sensorial charge of life in local landscape.

“I sense the world might be more dreamlike, metaphorical, and poetic than we currently believe … I wouldn’t be surprised if poetry … in the sense of a world filled with metaphor, rhyme, and recurring patterns, shapes and designs … is how the world works. The world isn’t logical, it’s a song.”
