Reading in the Time of COVID-19

2020 has been a hell of a year so far. With bushfires, political turmoil and a devastating pandemic going on, you would be forgiven for thinking the world was a pretty unforgiving place. But from this side of the bookselling counter, we have seen the best of our community rise to the fore during this difficult time. In the conversations we have had with emergency service workers, teachers, parents, fellow retail workers and business owners, one note has emerged louder than the rest: reading can be a solace, an escape or an antidote to fear. Reading reminds us that the human experience is a shared journey and even in isolation we are never truly alone.

What is clear is that the reading community is a strong one. We are incredibly lucky to be surrounded by readers of quality here at Mostly Books and we are thrilled to share our new look website with you, which is accompanied for the first time by an online store. Whether you’re craving a hit of crime fiction, keen to keep the kiddies entertained or feeling the need to understand the world around you a bit better, Mostly Books has something for you. Rest assured that we are committed to helping you find the right book for yourself or your loved ones, be it in person (safely distanced and sanitised) or from the comfort of your own home.
